Eastern Bays
The Eastern Lakeshore is the perfect spot in which to relax and enjoy the best of lakeside
living. There is a wealth of places to enjoy, with sandy beaches, at least seven
boat ramps, grassed lake-edge reserves, ski lanes and superb swimming spots,
including the world-famous Bulli Point.
Dotted amongst these natural attributes are character-filled sleepy villages,
such as Oruatua with its beautiful river and fishing, TeRangiita and its
busy long-established country store and café, Tauranga-Taupo and Waitetoko,
where great beaches and some of the best lake views are on offer.
If you are looking for old world charm coupled with a stress-free holiday
environment that sits within striking distance of Turangi, Taupo and the ski fields,
then the Eastern Bays might just be the place for you.

Motuoapa
Motuoapa is on the eastern side of Southern Lake Taupo. The settlement offers
excellent access out onto the lake for great fishing and boating experiences.
As well as being the gateway to the Central Plateau and mountain adventures,
it is home to a new state of the art marina.
With a mix of permanent and holiday homes, as well as sections available, it is
fast becoming the choice of many wanting a slice of this fantastic location.
Turangi
Turangi is one of the newest townships in New Zealand created by the Government in 1965 to house workers
and their families who were engaged in the building of the Tongariro Hydro Power Scheme. New
subdivisions have seen higher calibre homes built in recent years and the population continues
to grow, with current numbers sitting around 3000.
Over the past two years property values and rental returns have been rising consistently. This has been
underpinned by investors looking for good rental options, first home buyers, holiday makers and parties
from diverse backgrounds relocating from
the main centres, looking for a relaxed living environment in the
North Island’s outdoor playground.

Western Bays
Situated on the western end of Lake Taupo are Pukawa, Omori and Kuratau - primarily holiday
home areas, with a small percentage of permenant residents. The main attractions to living in this
idyllic area are the proximity to the lake front for boating, fishing and family activities.
Best known (particularly Pukawa) for its beautiful native bush and bird life.
Property values around the area have risen consistently over the past two years with a mixture of
permanent residents looking to settle here and holiday home buyers looking for a place to enjoy
family fun.

Whareroa
Whareroa Village is situated 33 kilometres north west of Turangi on the shores
of Lake Taupo. The village is unique in that it has been designed to maximise both
the views and access to the lake. Each street is linked by public walking tracks, you
can walk to the lake without the need to cross the road. There is a boat ramp
& jetty, water ski lane, safe swimming area, extensive lake front reserve areas for
cricket etc and a public tennis court.
Property sales in Whareroa over the last two years are on the increase. Sales are
mostly holiday homes, with the odd permanent residence.
